If one excludes schools, non-profits, local, state and federal governments and their directly funded entities, the table that is available by clicking on the PDF icon below is an eye opener.
Caution: If you like to split hairs over numbers, these are 2005 data for the most part. The recession has had an impact, no doubt. Nevertheless, the table provides some very powerful insights into the size distribution and nature of for-profit employment in the United States.
This data was available to the Federal Government from its own agencies BEFORE it passed the Stimulus Bill.
QUESTION: What would you have done if you were making the decisions inside the Federal Bubble if you had taken the time to get and digest this data?
Question: Did you notice that companies having more than 100 employees only have between 50 to 60 employees per establishment, i.e. location?
Translation: gaining an enterprise in your county that has about 50 to 60 employees is a bigger deal than 50% of the for-profit establishments owned by the bigger entities.
Question: Did you also notice that only 1% of the for-profit firms have more than 100 employees?
Translation: real job growth comes from the ultra-small sector.
Challenge: really study the table carefully. You just might gain some unique insights that will be helpful as you seek to develop your own opinions on this vital matter.

ABOUT THE USBA.us
This is a service to enhance the outlook for the ultra-small business community in the United States: 3,000,000 independently owned firms seeking the pride and freedom of entrepreneurship by doing business with each other.
Ultra-small firms represent more than half of the for-profit enterprises in the USA, and their people are the roots that nourish and feed all larger firms, non-profits, churches, and local, state and federal governments in America!
This web site is funded from my hip pocket by earned advisory fees and sales of educational business books and publications I have authored since 1979 (i.e. by John C. Randall ) at RGIofVa.com. Buying these valuable "real-world based" publications is a fully-deductible business expense, not a charitable item. Publications from the Randall Group, Inc., have a 30 day money-back guarantee (see web site for details).
I may also be available as a speaker for your group, conference, convention, trade show, radio or TV broadcast, etc. Contact me at John@JohnCRandall.com for availability and rates. Also, if you are an aspiring politician, you might wish to contact me for insights that are not published.
